I perform the surgeries and procedures in Medellín, Colombia, where I have a plastic surgery licence.
You’ll arrive on the day of surgery fully prepared and confident in your outcome because @drlopezrios is a plastic surgeon training in one of the most important universities in Colombia. He is working internationally in surgical safety and quality.
Most surgeries are day surgeries, done under general or local anesthetic at private hospitals: IQ Interquirófanos and Quirófanos el Tesoro located in an exclusive neighbourhood of the city with all the facilities you require before and after your procedure.
After surgery, you wake up slightly groggy and a bit uncomfortable and head home soon after.
In some cases, you passed the night at the clinic to take care of you with doctors and nurses’ training staff.

Medical Education
I received my Medical Doctor degree in 2001 from the School of Medicine, University of Antioquia, Medellín, Colombia. I had the opportunity to work as a general practitioner for 8 years in rural and urban areas focused on family medicine and preventive medicine. I went back to the medical school for the Plastic Surgery, Maxillofacial and Hand Surgery residency at the University of Antioquia. I went for 4 years on training that included rotations blocks and practice in general surgery, orthopedics, otorhinolaryngology, dermatology, rehabilitation and specifics blocks rotation in plastic that included hand surgery, burns, trauma and reconstruction, microsurgery, skin cancer, breast reconstruction, pediatric plastic surgery and, aesthetic. I got a specialist degree in 2013 from the School of Medicine, the University of Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia.
Cosmetic Plastic Surgery
I perform Cosmetic and Aesthetic plastic surgery. I am a highly-qualified aesthetic plastic surgeon with experience in performing the whole gamut of surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures. I am so happy to meet my patients and outline a plan for achieving their aesthetic goals. I keep in touch with my patients through telemedicine and consultations in my office, located at Procedimientos Quirurgicos SAS, Medellin, Colombia. I scheduled the cosmetic surgeries in ambulatory facilities dedicated to plastic surgery patients such as IQ Interquirofanos and Quirófanos el Tesoro located in Medellin, Colombia.

Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Practice
I have developed my professional practice in the reconstructive area in San Vicente Fundación Hospital, Medellín, Colombia, a University, trauma and reference hospital in the region. It has a pediatric and adult center. It has one of the most important Burn units in the area. I work part-time in the hospital in the acute setting, and most of the patients are adults and children with burns, face trauma, hand trauma, wounds and, lower limb reconstruction. In the ambulatory setting and the clinic, most patients are related to breast reconstruction, skin cancer and post-bariatric surgery reconstruction. The children’s hospital has several children related to craniofacial and hand malformation surgery.
Surgical Analyst and Research Coordinator in Canada
I complement my surgical practice in research as a Research coordinator III at the International Centre for Surgical Safety, Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of the St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I am a Surgical Analyst associated with the Black Box Project® from Surgical Safety Technologies. We are looking to improve the quality of the health care system.
Previous to the Covid-19 pandemic, I used to work part time in the clinic and surgery set in Colombia and part time in the research area in Canada. Nowadays, I am in Canada full time because of the mobility and travel restrictions posted by all the countries. I hope to come back soon to my surgical practice in Medellín, Colombia

In Colombia I used to work in different hospitals and clinics in the plastic surgery services among Centros Especializados San Vicente Fundación, Rionegro, Antioquia, Colombia; Clinica del Norte, Bello, Antioquia , Colombia and, Clinica el Rosario del Tesoro in Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia.
I had been a plastic surgery professor from 2013 to 2019 at the School of Medicine, University of Antioquia, Colombia, where I shared my knowledge and experience with undergraduate students and plastic surgery residents in the Medical School.
