Hyaluronic acid – Fillers

Hyaluronic acid, it is a substance found naturally in our skin; it helps retain water and gives volume to the face. Over time, the body loses the ability to produce and regenerate this molecule, giving rise to the visible signs of old age, such as wrinkles and furrows.

HOW IS THE TREATMENT?

It consists of applying a hyaluronic acid filler in the wrinkles or grooves to be treated, softening them immediately; with a single treatment, you will achieve natural results.

WHERE CAN YOU APPLY?

Each of us ages differently, and hyaluronic acid can be used in various ways to rejuvenate multiple face problem areas. Including:

  • Nasolabial folds: This furrow originates from the base of the nose to the corners of the mouth and is the most commonly treated area.
  • Perioral lines: These are fine lines located around the mouth caused by muscle contraction; activities such as smoking make them worse.
  • Marionette Lines: They run downward from the corners of the mouth and give a wrinkled, aging appearance.
  • Lip filler and augmentation: Hyaluronic acid is perfect for plumping up the lips and improving their definition.

HOW LONG DOES THE EFFECT LAST?

Depending on the characteristics of each patient, the effect can last between 12 to 18 months.

What is the difference between Biopolymers and hyaluronic acid?

Biopolymers are substances that are used as fillers, but in some cases, they can generate foreign body reactions by the organism; that is, our bodies recognize this as foreign and create reactions such as heat, inflammation, pain and, in some cases, migration of these substances, from the site where they were initially applied. Additionally, some people acquire infections associated with these substances, which appear after months or years of application, such as those associated with mycobacteria.

When these symptoms pass, this becomes a problem for patients; apart from the discomfort presented, they can be accompanied by deformities in the body area where it was applied. Unlike other injectable products, hyaluronic acid does not produce this type of reaction as it is biocompatible with living tissues.

Patients who wish to remove the biopolymers often come to the consultation. Depending on the location and extent of symptoms, partial removal of these substances is possible through direct incisions or liposuction.
