Medellín seen from the West

Medellín, the city of eternal spring, is seen from the west of the town. Here you can see the Atanasio Girardot Stadium in the center of the photograph, where the soccer matches of the local teams, Deportivo Independiente Medellín and Atlético Nacional, are played. If you can attend one of these events, you will enjoy a joyful atmosphere full of emotions.

Medellin, Colombia, is seen from the El Poblado neighbourhood with a beautiful climate surrounded by mountains. It is a pleasant city to visit for short or long periods. Likewise, the quality of medical care services is high, being an ideal place for the practice of cosmetic procedures and surgeries.

Where to Stay?

There are multiple options to stay for seasons in Medellín, from hotels, hostels, residences, houses of passage, rooms, or apart-hotels.

I recommend a place like this. Located in the pink zone, El Poblado neighbourhood in Medellín – Colombia, where the cosmetic surgery clinics and facilities are found.

Medellin Metrocable

The city of Medellín developed in the Aburrá Valley, and due to the town’s expansion, its neighbouring mountains were the place of urban development. One of the modes of transportation that evolved was the cable system. Tourists allow to enjoy a pleasant panorama and see from the sky the typical neighbourhoods and communes that this means of transport favours. For locals, the Metrocable is one of the most important means of transportation as it connects with the bus and metro system.

Medellin seen from El Poblado

El Poblado is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city, where Medellín was founded in the park that bears his name. It is one of the most important financial sectors, with the most exclusive shopping centers, executive sector, hotels, clinics, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues. Unlike other large cities where the center or “downtown” of the town is the center of the financial and entertainment sector, Medellín is the El Poblado neighbourhood where this development took place. Likewise, the sector has exclusive residential areas in the middle of the mountain on the eastern side of the city that communicates with Las Palmas Avenue, one of the routes that connect with Rionegro and the José María Córdova International Airport.

Parks of the River, Medellin.

The Medellín River crosses the city from south to north; for several years, the public policy for recovering this water source has been accompanied by extensive urban development that includes roads, parks and recreational areas to visit and enjoy.

Plaza Botero, Medellín.

Fernando Botero is a Colombian artist characterized by paintings, sculptures, and exalted volumetry. There is a square and a museum downtown that bears his name and is easily accessible from the Medellín Metro system.

In its square, it is possible to enjoy his work, a place worth visiting among locals and tourists.

La Alpujarra, the city hall downtown, comprises a series of modern urban complexes from where the city is administered. One of the squares surrounding this sector is Plaza Cisneros, which connects with the famous “El hueco” sector, where locals visit to find shops at favourable prices.

Tranvía de Medellín street cars.

This transport system connects the city center with the city’s eastern sector and is integrated with the Metro system.

Its route passes through specific sectors such as Ayacucho Street, a means of transportation for locals but, without a doubt, a scheduled tour for most tourists.

The Carnival of Barranquilla is Colombia’s most important folkloric and cultural event. Nearly 2 million people, between visitors and locals, participate annually in the festival.

The Carnival of Barranquilla is an event in which all the cultural varieties and folklore of the Colombian Caribbean Coast are expressed, as well as the most varied local manifestations, such as popular music and dance. The many costumes that invoke all kinds of animal species, native and strange, are cause for laughter and frights; African blacks; bobbleheads; insane; dolls; Superheroes; mythological beings who transcend the limits of sexuality and death, among an almost endless number of famous inventions and occurrences. Some of the most traditional costumes of the Barranquilla Carnival are the Marimonda, the Garabato, the Congo and the Monocuco. Other typical elements of the Carnival of Barranquilla are bull masks, litanies, festivals, and satirical costumes alluding to current events that become a reason for collective hilarity and cause great expectation every year.
