FACE PEELING

Face peeling.

Peeling or chemical exfoliation is a topical therapeutic technique that destroys the skin’s first layer by applying a corrosive product to renew the skin, leaving it with a better appearance and quality.

Peelings are agents that maintain the skin in optimal normal skin conditions while enhancing and beautifying the individual. Today it is a beautiful, minimally invasive option that helps maintain  healthy skin and partially inhibits the effects of aging.

Traditionally, these formulas are composed of bases (mineral, vegetable, and colloidal oils, which can be combined) and active ingredients that vary according to the desired function. The effectiveness of the peeling depends on multiple factors, such as complete knowledge of the substance to be used, the professional’s experience, and the general condition of the area to be treated.

CLASSIFICATION OF PEELINGS OR MASKS

Peelings or dermo exfoliating masks are classified according to the degree of action at the level of the skin layers.

Superficial Peels

They have acted on the entire epidermis and are ideal for treating acne, epidermal melasma, and photoaging and are recommended for type III, IV, and V skin, that is, light or brown skin.

Acids are used at low concentrations, such as resorcinol, salicylic acid, retinoids, and glycolic acid. They are the most popular due to their ease of application and low complications and adverse effects.

Medium peels

Its concentration is higher, implying a more significant and profound skin action; therefore, photo exposure should be avoided for a specific time after the procedure.

Deep Peels

Facial rejuvenation techniques have replaced these types of peels with laser and dermabrasion. They are rarely used because local anesthesia or sedation is needed within a controlled area.
